PSHE and Relationships and Health Education

Grappenhall Heys Community Primary School - My Happy Mind

At Mosley, we follow the My Happy Mind programme for our PSHE, Relationships and Health Education. The scheme is based around a 'proactive not reactive' approach, where children learn about their brain and mind to better understand and celebrate who they are. The programme is well-structured, covers all topics in a mindful, child-friendly way and is also supported by the NHS.

Our PSHE curriculum encompasses all that we do at Mosley and we adapt our lessons to suit the needs of the children, often holding additional PSHE lessons to support children's social and emotional development.

We enrich the PSHE lessons with wide ranging opportunities and external visitors to school. Our assemblies are also a key  part of our PSHE curriulum. These include pupil voice, OPAL risk benefit discussions, digital literacy, Picture News and a celebration assembly each week.

Through our My Happy Mind parent app, we can share a range of ways that families can support their children at home with their wellbeing and understanding of emotions. We believe that this team approach is the best way to help our children to thrive.

In February 2022, we consulted with parents through a Microsoft Forms, prior to the updates of the new statutory expectations for Relationships and Health Education. Parents were satisfied with the coverage we intended to use,  please see below for the results of this consultation. We also write to parents annually to inform them of the content of the RSHE curriculum.
